Lithuania's ISSP membership consists of a joint membership of Institute of Public Policy and Administration, Kaunas University of Technology and Faculty of Social Sciences, Vytautas Magnus University Kaunas.
Institute of Public Policy and Administration (PPAI) was established in 1999 at Kaunas University of Technology, Faculty of Social Sciences. The Institute implements cross-national research in the fields of sociology, political science, public policy and public administration. The major orientation of the studies conducted at the Institute is the analysis of the current state and developments of the Lithuanian polity as well as of its key political and social institutions.
Additionally, the Institute is hosting and developing the Lithuanian Data Archive for Social Sciences and Humanities (LiDA, www.lidata.eu), which is a member of the Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). Since 2004 the PPAI is taking part in the European Election Studies (EES) on electoral participation and voting behaviour in European Parliament elections. And since 2008 the Institute has been coordinating the implementation of European Social Survey (ESS) in Lithuania.
It was established as a public research and studies institution in 1990 at the Vytautas Magnus University. The faculty has five main disciplines: sociology and social anthropology, psychology, educational sciences and social work. many research projects at the Faculty of Social Sciences are focused on a comparative study of Lithuanian and European societies. The Faculty is strongly engaged in developing inter-disciplinary research and research methods for the social sciences.
